The Coquitlam Express lost 5-4 to the Prince George Spruce Kings on Wednesday in Prince George.

The Coquitlam Express fought back but five straight goals by the Prince George Spruce Kings proved to be just too much to overcome in the BC Hockey League team’s 5-4 loss Wednesday in Prince George.

Noah Dziver of the Express opened the scoring less than four minutes into the first period but the Spruce Kings responded with two goals in the second period and another three in the first nine minutes of the third.

Coquitlam got back on track with less than five minutes in regulation time.

Drew Garzone scored a pair and Joseph Odyniec added a power play goal but the comeback fell just short.

The Express fired 40 shots at Spruce Kings goalie Marcus Ouellet while Adam Manji made 27 saves in the Express net.

Coquitlam returns home for a pair of games this weekend. Friday, the team hosts the Powell River Kings, 7 p.m., at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex. Saturday, the league-leading Surrey Eagles will be the visitors, also at 7 p.m.
