Coquitlam Express player drafted by NHL's New Jersey Devils

A Coquitlam Express player was selected for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft this past weekend at Consol Energy Centre in Pittsburgh. Express forward Alex Kerfoot was taken in the in the fifth round, 150th overall by the New Jersey Devils.

Express forward Alex Kerfoot was taken in the in the fifth round, 150th overall by the New Jersey Devils.

Kerfoot is also notable as a BC Hockey League Coastal Conference Rookie of the Year, Most Sportsmanlike Player and 1st Team All-Star.

The 5'9", 153 lb. frontliner scored 25 goals and recorded 44 assists last season for the Express while also racking up 24 penalty minutes.

In all, five BC Hockey League players and one graduate were selected. The others are: Jujhar Khaira (Prince George); Sean Maguire (Powell River); Reece Willcox (Merritt); Wesley Myron (Victoria); and Joey Laleggia (now with the University of Denver).
