The Coquitlam Express earned its first two wins of the season with victories over the Powell River Kings on Friday and Saturday.

The Coquitlam Express is back on a winning track.

The BC Hockey League team defeated the Powell River Kings 6-2 on Saturday.

It was Coquitlam’s second win in a row in the coastal city after a 5-3 victory over the Kings on Friday as well.

Saturday, the Express spotted Powell River an early 1-0 lead, then scored the next six goals before the hosts rounded out the scoring.

Coco Armstrong led Coquitlam’s attack, scoring a pair of goals while Drew Garzone added two assists.

Adam Manji stopped 32 shots to earn the win in the Express net

Friday, Jake Manfre scored twice and Tyler Kopff had a goal and two assists to power the Express to a 5-3 win. It was the team’s first of the season after three straight losses.

Coquitlam continues its extended run of road games on Friday when it visits the Chilliwack Chiefs in Chilliwack. The team's next home game at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex is Nov. 2, when it hosts the Langley Rivermen in a special midweek afternoon game.
