Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs are ranked second in the nation and played like it on the weekend, jumping out to a 2-0 lead over the Victoria Shamrocks in one of two BC Junior A Lacrosse Association League semi-final series.

The 17-3-1 A's - who in the latest Subway/Lacrosse Talk national rankings are second behind the New Westminster Salmonbellies (also up 2-0 in their semi-final series against the Delta Islanders) - opened the series Saturday with a 13-5 win at home in the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, then travelled to Vancouver Island the next day and posted an 11-6 victory in Victoria.

In the first game, Tyler Pace paced the Adanacs, firing a hat-trick and collecting four assists for a seven-point total. Other top scorers for the host A's were Brett Hawrys, with four assists, as well as Cole Shafer and Eli McLaughlin, with a hat-trick apiece, the latter also recording a helper.

Riley Camazzola backstopped Coquitlam for the first two periods, stopping 18 of 23 shots, while Pete Dubenski took over between the pipes in the third, turning away all 10 Shamrocks shots.

Dubenski was back in goal on Sunday in Victoria, allowing just five goals on 32 shots, while Pace again led the A's, with two goals and two assists. Coquitlam also got three-point games from McLaughlin (1-2), Taylor Northway (1-2) and Chase McIntyre (2-1).

Coquitlam and Victoria next face off Saturday at Poirier and Sunday at the Q Centre in Victoria, with a fifth game, if necessary, scheduled for Monday, July 21 at Poirier.
