The struggling Coquitlam Adanacs dropped their last two Western Lacrosse Association outings last week.

The Sr. A's, whose 5-8 record leaves them second last in the seven-team league, fell 10-5 on July 8 to the host Maple Ridge Burrards and 11-9 at home on Saturday to the Nanaimo Timbermen.

In Maple Ridge last week, Coquitlam got three points apiece in a losing cause from Brett Hickey (two goals) and Daryl Veltman (two assists) while goalie Adam Shute took the loss between the pipes, making 24 saves on 34 shots.

Coquitlam Minor Lacrosse product Ben McIntosh led the way for the Burrards with three goals and three assists.

On Saturday at home to Nanaimo, Veltman posted six points, including four goals, while Hickey, Brandon Goodwin and Vincent Ricci each collected four points. Shute again took the loss in goal, facing 40 shots.

The Adanacs again faced a hot stick belonging to a Coquitlam native in the Timbermen's Cayle Ratcliffe, who exploded for nine points, including four goals.

Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs were to face off last night (Tuesday) against the Burrards in Maple Ridge after The Tri-City News' press deadline, then will play back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday against the Lakers in Burnaby and the visiting Burrards at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
