Coquitlam's Lemar Durant scored two touchdowns and had 116-yards receiving last Saturday as the SFU Clan defeated conference rivals Dixie State Red Storm 41-28.
The game was the squad's first conference win of the season, which featured a strong performance from Durant and fellow Tri-City player Bobby Pospischil.
SFU took an early lead, scoring on their first possession, when quarterback Trey Wheeler found Mathis Baumbach in the end zone to complete an eight-play, 87-yard drive and make it 7-0.
The Clan's Bo Palmer, also had an impressive game, scoring in the first quarter to give the team a 13-0 cushion. Palmer's first touchdown of the game capped a seven play, 59-yard drive, which featured a 52-year pass from Wheeler to Pospischil.
Palmer went on to pile up three more touchdowns before the end of the match.
But the Red Storm kept the score close for most of the game, until SFU was able to widen the gap in the score with two touchdowns in the third.
Durant caught a 23-yard pass early in the quarter, followed by another touchdown from Palmer, making the score 34-14.
With the win, the Clan improve to 2-3 on the season. They will play Azusa Pacific on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Terry Fox field. Student admission is free.
Victory for the Coquitlam Vikings
The Coquitlam Vikings notched another win on Sunday in minor football, defeating the Delta Longhorns 23-6 at Mundy Park.
Both team's defences dominated in the first half and neither side was able to find the end zone until the third quarter. After half time Coquitlam took the lead when Brenden Dieno scored two touchdowns.
Delta was able to score a touchdown of their own but a late score from the Vikings' Keon Fuoco ended the game.
