The squad won its fifth straight B.C. Premier Baseball League game Sunday following a doubleheader sweep of the Vancouver Cannons at Mundy Park.

The result boosted the Reds to 19-17 in seventh spot in the 14 team loop, while the 11th-place Cannons slipped to 11-25.

Max Hollingworth cranked a double and drove in two runs as the Reds doubled the Cannons 6-3 in the opening game.

Darren Honeysett also doubled for the Reds, who trailed 2-1 before exploding for five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Coquitlam got two-hit pitching over six innings from winner Jeff Heidema, with Curtis Taylor earning the save.

In the second game, the Reds again came from behind, overcoming a 2-0 deficit by scoring one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The shortstop Honeysett led the way offensively for the Reds with two hits and a run scored. Jordan Zazulak and Luan Dang had an RBI apiece for the winners, who got a complete-game four-hitter from pitcher Austin MacDonald.

The Reds visit the 8-22 Whalley Chiefs tonight (Wednesday) before traveling to Langley for a twinbill Thursday against the 26-6 first-place Blaze.

BASELINES:Between games Sunday, the Reds honoured former long-time assistant coach Henry Somers, who retired last year after 12 seasons with the squad. Among the tributes bestowed on Somers was having his No. 5 retired, becoming only the third Red ever to be given that distinction.
