A partnership between the Coquitlam Reds and Coquitlam Little League Baseball will see the two organizations work together to share resources and offer unique opportunities for local players.
Things like coaching expertise, knowledge and skill development and equipment will now be spread out between the two groups
"Since 1977, the Coquitlam Reds have offered competitive baseball at the highest level for players around the Lower Mainland and we have been constantly impressed by the level of skill and knowledge brought by the players who come from Coquitlam Little League," said Wes Taylor, general manager of the Coquitlam Reds. "By working even more closely with Coquitlam Little League, we will be able to support and develop more players and improve baseball in the Tri-City area."
While the advantages of the partnership will be felt for all players, Taylor said it is athletes between the ages of 13 and 14 that will receive the most attention. At that age, most players are trying to break into the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League.
Coquitlam has a BCJPBL squad - the Coquitlam Redlegs - as well as the Coquitlam Reds, who play in the B.C. Premier Baseball League.
