The Fraser Valley Cyclones knocked off the North Shore All-Stars 10-0 and 9-3 at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver on Saturday to win their second consecutive Senior Little League provincial title.
The team of 15- and 16-year-olds from throughout the Lower Fraser Valley includes eight Coquitlam players.
Coquitlam Little Leaguers Andrew Walton and Keegan Baldwin each knocked in a pair of RBIs in the first game.
Coquitlam's Kyle Williamson pitched six solid innings in the championship final, giving up just one run and two walks while striking out four.
"Seven of the Coquitlam players went to Nationals last year, so they know what to expect and are really hungry - they want it bad," said manager Bruce Michael. "We are happy with the provincial championship, but we are not satisfied. We didn't play as well today as I have seen us play, and when we play our best game we are a pretty tough squad to handle."
The Cyclones now advance to the Canadian Championships in Thunder Bay, Ont. July 31 toAug. 8. To help cover the costs of the trip the Cyclones are holding a fundraiser at the Townhall Public House, Friday at 6 p.m.
The winner of the Canadian tournament advances to the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Me.
