It looks like Coquitlam hockey player Josh Hartley is heading to the Ivy League.
The 20-year-old defenceman, who plays with the junior 'A' Wenatchee Wild in the North American Hockey League, has committed to Dartmouth College, where he will play with the Big Green in the NCAA.
Hartley has only played 11 games with the Wild but has already tied Doug Rose for the most points (10) among defencemen in the NAHL with seven assists and three goals, two of which game on the power play.
"It is a really good feeling," he said of heading to Dartmouth. "It's something I've been working toward for quite a few years. It's nice to be able to get it out of the way and focus on winning a championship [with the Wild]."
Hartley, who played seven games for the Burnaby Express in the 2009-10 season, scored three goals and four assists in a showcase tournament in Blaine, Minn., last month and was named West Division Star of the Week for his efforts. He was also the runner-up for September's Defenceman of the Month award.
Hartley ended up in Wenatchee after his former NAHL team, the Dawson Creek Rage, folded. He was able to score 16 goals and notch 36 assists with his former team over two seasons.
