Coquitlam gymnast Robert Watson took home a bronze medal for all around competition at the National Gymnastics Championship held in Regina last week.

The 18-year-old was up against a strong field of older gymnasts, many of whom were fighting to contend for Canada's lone Olympic spot in the London 2012 Summer Games.

Robert hit all of his nine events in the all around competition and competed in three other event finals, where he earned gold on the floor, silver on high bar and bronze on the parallel bars.

His total score for the events was 81.950, behind gold medalist Nathan Gafuik and second place finisher Jayd Lukenchuk of Saskatoon, who had 83.850. Watson is eyeing the 2016 Olympics, which will take place in Rio De Janeiro.
