Mateo Dixon scored his second hat trick in as many nights to lead the Coquitlam Express to a 6-4 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs, Saturday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

Dixon, who also had three goals — along with teammate Ray Hamlin — in Friday’s 6-5 win over the Chiefs, scored twice on the power play and added an empty-netter with three seconds left in regulation time.

After Ryan Tattle put the Express up 1-0 3:29 into the game, Chilliwack stormed back with three straight goals before the first period was half over. Dixon’s first of the night made it 3-2 but a power play goal by Mateo Mrsic in the final minute of the frame sent the Chiefs into the dressing room with a 4-2 advantage.

After that, though, it was all Express.

Ian Deviln and Kahlil Fontana scored in the second period to get Coquitlam back on even terms while Dixon scored twice in the third to ice the win.

Express goalie Carter Woodside stopped 40 shots while his teammates fired 28 at Chiefs netminder Cole Savage.

The weekend wins give Coquitlam some momentum heading into the team’s next game, Wednesday against the Langley Rivermen that lead the BC Hockey League’s Coastal division. The Express then return home to face Chilliwack again next Friday at 7 p.m. followed by an afternoon game at 3 p.m. Sunday at Poirier against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
