Douglas College volleyball gets a lift

Douglas College's nursing program will get a boost this fall from newly recruited, 6'1" Royals' volleyball player Taylor Gammel.

Douglas College's nursing program will get a boost this fall from newly recruited, 6'1" Royals' volleyball player Taylor Gammel.

The high school senior from Kelowna, a rightside, chose Douglas both for the reputation of the nursing program and for Royals volleyball.

"I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the Royals family and pursuing my dream of becoming a nurse," said Gammel, in a press release.

Also from Kelowna, Kelsi Taron will join the Royals' volleyball squad for their upcoming season. Taron, a 5'9" setter, competed for Team BC in 2011 at the U-16 Western Elite Championships.

"Kelsi is a very dynamic and exciting athlete to have on the team," said Royals' head coach Kyra Iannone. "Most importantly, we are changing the culture of Douglas women's volleyball."
