Joey Santucci netted the winner in the Coquitlam Express' 4-3 win over the visiting Surrey Eagles Wednesday.
Goals from Marc Biega, Corey Mackin and Bo Pieper lifted the Express to a 3-0 lead after the first period in which Coquitlam outshot Surrey 18-5. Surrey scored twice in the second but could only get one past Pierce Dushenko in a third period that saw him turn aside 21 shots.
Coquitlam's Jeff Wight (Merritt Centennials) had a goal and an assist to help Canada West knock off the Czech Republic 4-1 Tuesday at the 2013 Junior A Challenge in Yarmouth, N.S.
Canada West, which also features another Coquitlam product (defenceman Viktor Dombrovskiy of the Langley Thunder), opened the tournament with a 4-3 win over Switzerland Monday.
Canada West faced off with Switzerland again in Thursday night's quarterfinal.
