Coqutilam Express are still in the hunt for a playoff spot but need some help getting there -- soon.

The Express and Cowichan Valley Capitals are currently deadlocked for the seventh and final B.C. Hockey League Coastal Conference post-season berth, each with 50 points. The Express have three regular-season games remaining, beginning tonight (Wednesday) versus the Eagles in Surrey, while the Caps have two.

Only the Caps already have a pivotal one more win than do the Express and need only one more to solidify the playoff spot.

After Surrey tonight, the Express face those same Eagles -- the very team they would play in the first round should they make it that far -- on Friday at the Sports Centre, 7 p.m. Coquitlam then wraps up regular-season play at home Sunday versus the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, 2 p.m.

The Caps face a pair of tough outings themselves -- tonight against the Grizzlies in Victoria and Friday versus the league-best Powell River Kings in Cowichan.

Under the current BCHL playoff format, seven of the eight Coastal Conference teams make the playoffs, with the top team, Powell River, receiving a first-round bye.
