Members of the Coquitlam Express will put pride and bragging rights on the line when they take part in the first Express Superskills Competition Monday.

The Family Day event will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, with admission by donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The event sponsored by the Express, Coquitlam Minor Hockey Association and OpenRoad Auto Group will feature Express players join those with the CMHA to show off their talents in competitions such as team relay, fastest skater and hardest shot.

"It will be a head-to-head competition and it will be a lot of fun I think for the guys," said Express coach Barry Wolff, adding his players are looking forward to earning bragging rights.

Wolff gives the edge to Express captain Ryan Rosenthal in the fastest skater competition.

"But what's going to happen is we'll put them into two teams and then they are going to decide what event they're going to go into so they won't get to do every event," he said.

The Family Day event will also feature multiple bouncy castles as well as face painting and balloon twisting.
