Call it home ice disadvantage.
Regardless, the Coquitlam Express managed a home-and-home -- er, away-and-away -- split with the Langley Rivermen as part of last weekend's B.C. Hockey League 50th anniversary celebration.
On Friday, the Rivermen built period leads of 2-0 and 3-0 on way to a 5-2 victory over the Jr. 'A' Express at the Poirier Sports Complex.
The next night, it was Coquitlam's turn to get the jump, racing to an early 3-1 margin and coasting to a 6-3 win.
The results left the Express with a 12-9-1-2 record and in fifth spot in the ever-tight eight-team Coastal Conference, in which last-place Langley moved to 10-14-0-0.
On Friday, Cody Michelle returned recently from a broken jaw to net both Coquitlam goals, but only after the Rivermen had built a cozy 4-0 lead by the midway mark of the third period.
On Saturday, Alex Petan struck net twice for the Express, whose other goals came via Michelle, Brady Shaw, Stephen Ryan and Justin Georgeson.
