Some Coquitlam Reds alumni helped the Burnaby Collegiate Bulldogs repeat as B.C. junior men's baseball champions. The Bulldogs outlasted the Kelowna Jays Junior squad 5-4 in the championship game earlier this month in Kelowna. Burnaby went 3-1 in the round robin to advance to the championship game. The Junior Bulldogs are college ball players selected from the Douglas College Royals and the UBC T-Birds to represent Team BC. Former Coquitlam Reds shortstop Tyler Yorko, second baseman Taylor Lawrence and first baseman Mitchell Jackman all played significant roles in the provincial championship win. The Bulldogs were coached by Shawn Shaefer, another former Red. All four are members of the Douglas College Royals. The Collegiate Bulldogs will now go on to represent B.C. at the national championships in Dartmouth, N.S.
