Kids in the Tri-Cities are invited to take their best shot at a Knights of Columbus competition.
The fourth annual free throw championship will be held Feb. 2 from 1-4 p.m. at Archbishop Carney regional secondary school. All boys and girls ages nine to 14 are welcome to enter the free competition, with winners in each gender selected for each age.
The local winners will move on to compete at the district competitions on the same day, with district winners given the opportunity to compete at the regional level the following Sunday in Vancouver.
Pre-registration is required in order to prevent any overflows and to reserve a spot in the competition and participants are required to furnish proof of age and written parental consent.
The event includes an intermission with snack food, a fun skills game, and a possible guest instructor to show off free throw skills.Medals and certificates will be awarded to all winners and there will also be chances to win great draw prizesincluding three certificates to basketball camps sponsored by Basketball BC and Drive Basketball.
Last year more than 120,000 youngsters participated in over 3,600 local competitions across North America.
