The A's managed only one marker in each period during a 7-3 defeat to the host Langley Thunder in the opening game of the Western Lacrosse Association best-of-seven final series.

Game 2 goes Tuesday at Poirier Sports Complex, 7:45 p.m.

The teams were knotted 1-1 after the first period and the Thunder held a 4-2 lead after the second.

Jason Jones, Steve McKinlay and Daryl Veltman scored for the A's, who were outshot handily 59-37 and got an outstanding 52-save showing from league MVP goalie Nick Rose.

Former Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs' player Athan Iannucci and ex-PoCo Saint Rob Van Beek were among the Langley goal-getters.
