Goalie Rose officially returns to WLA Adanacs

Coquitlam Adanacs finally got the man they felt always was their man to tend net for them.

Coquitlam Adanacs finally got the man they felt always was their man to tend net for them.

Goalie Nick Rose, who played on the Senior 'A' Adanacs the last two seasons, has been officially reinstated in the A's line-up after a transfer agreement was finally reached with Ontario's Brooklin Redmen, the Western Lacrosse Association team announced today (Wednesday).

"It's huge, nobody goes anywhere without goaltending," A's general manager Randy Delmonico told The Tri-City News.

Rose's return to the A's was delayed by Redmen management who own his Major Series Lacrosse eastern rights and were pressing Delmonico for steep compensation to again return him as a transfer player. Delmonico eventually traded for Langley Thunder holdout goalie Aaron Bold, who ironically toiled with the Redmen last season as a transfer player.

Essentially, an agreement was reached that Rose and Bold are now fully committed to the A's and Redmen respectively barring a future move by either stopper back to their home province, where they would then become property of their original team before the latest transaction.

Despite securing Rose, who was second among WLA goalies last season to the New Westminster Salmonbellies' Tyler Richards with a 7.00 goals against average and .843 save percentage, Delmonico said he fully intends to employ three goalies this season, with six-foot-four Calgary rookie Adam Shute and field lacrosse standout Tom Johnson in the mix as well.

"It's based on the goaltenders' understanding," Delmonico said. "All three realize the guy who's playing the best is going to play."

Rose, 24, has played five of the Toronto Rock's 15 games this National Lacrosse League campaign and back-stopped the Orangeville Northmen to back-to-back Minto Cup national Jr. 'A' crowns in 2008 and '09.
