The Coquitlam Express lost its third straight game to the Langley Rivermen — and seventh overall — Friday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

Seven seconds is all it took for the Coquitlam Express to turn its first win in seven games to its seventh consecutive loss.

That’s how far apart Ryon Upson and Andrew Kovacevic scored for the Langley Rivermen in the third period to erase a 2-1 deficit to the Express and take a 3-2 lead Friday (Nov. 5) at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

Owen Kim then added another into an empty net with three seconds remaining to clinch Langley’s fourth straight win.

Three of those have come at the expense of the Express.

After giving up the first goal to the Rivermen just 2:33 into the game, Coquitlam stormed back with goals by Matthew Campbell and Jayden Sison to take a 2-1 lead into the dressing at the first intermission.

Neither team scored in the second period that featured some wide open play and several odd-man rushes.

But 7:29 into the third period, the Rivermen scored its first of three unanswered goals to earn its seventh win in 10 games, good enough to sit atop the BC Hockey League’s Coastal division.

Meanwhile, the Express will be hard-pressed to win just its third game of the season Saturday (Nov. 6), as it hosts another division leader, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, 7 p.m. at Poirier.
