The TAG Sports gymnastics team returned from the first trials for trampoline and tumbling last weekend with a slew of medals.
In total, the club took in 17 golds, 13 silvers and nine bronzes for a total of 39 in the event, which ranks the provincial athletes for the Western Canada Cup expected to take place in June in Port Moody.
The event is also the avenue for national athletes looking to earn some funding toward attending the national championships.
In the national competition Kyle Carragher received gold medals in the tumbling, double-mini trampoline (DMT) and trampoline, while Jared Khalifa received a silver in tumbling and DMT.
Tamara O'Brien took gold in DMT and trampoline, with Kassidy Kask taking gold in in tumbling and a silver in DMT. Another gold medal was given to Alex Philips-Taylor in tumbling and a silver in DMT, while Erin England received a gold in DMT.
The Tag Sports team also had some impressive results in provincial competition.
Ellie Dockerty received a gold in DMT and a silver in tumbling; Taya Clyne received a gold in tumbling and a silver in trampoline; Oasia Moore received a gold in tumbling; Faith Henderson received a gold in trampoline and a bronze in DMT; Neta Sar Shalom received a gold in tumbling and a bronze in trampoline while Makayla Girney received a bronze in tumbling and a silver in trampoline.
Other winners included Nadine Stracqualusi, who received a silver in trampoline; Tony Basco, who received a silver in tumbling and trampoline; Trent Bebe, who received a silver in tumbling and a bronze in trampoline; A.J. Porohowski, who received a silver in trampoline; Aiden De Vaal, who received a gold medal in trampoline and bronze in tumbling and DMT; Aysha Vroom, who received a gold in tumbling, Caitlin Tracey, who received a bronze in DMT, tumbling and a silver in trampoline; Amanda Anzulovich, who received a gold in tumbling and C.C. Rundell, who received a bronze in tumbling.
In three weeks all of the athletes will attend the second trials at the Abbotsford Centre.
Meanwhile, members of Coquitlam's Aviva Club gymnastics team also had a good showing on the weekend.
Allison Beyer, 11, swept the level five tyro competition at the Omega Invitational, receiving four gold medals at the meet. Beyer's sister Jordan Beyer qualified for both the DMT and trampoline events at the Shasta Invitational event.
