Heavy medals at BC Winter Games

Coquitlam's Zachary and Nicholas Umbach were part of the Tyler Tardi rink from Langley that won gold for Zone 3 (Fraser Valley) in Juvenile Men's curling at last weekend's BC Winter Games in Vernon.

Zachary, 16, played lead on the Tardi foursome while his younger brother, 14-year-old Nicholas, was fifth (spare).

The Tardi team whipped Mill Bay's Paul Henderson 7-3 in the gold-medal game.

In figure skating, two Coquitlam Skating Club members secured medals as Kelvin Koon won silver in the Pre-novice Men's category while Cristina Delmaestro earned bronze in Juvenile Ladies.

In alpine skiing, Port Moody's Kyle Parker, 14, won bronze in men's freestyle moguls.
