Jr. Adanacs, Saints power into playoffs

On Friday, the Saints secured fifth spot in the eight-team loop via a convincing 11-5 triumph over the Burnaby Jr. Lakers at PoCo Rec Centre.

The Saints open their best-of-three quarter-final series tonight (Wednesday) versus the fourth-place Langley Thunder, with game two slated for Thursday in PoCo, 8 p.m.

A third and deciding game, if necessary, would go Saturday back in Langley.

Sixth-place Victoria and third-place New West are set to square off in the other quarter-final clash, with the Jr. A's and second-place Delta Islanders having secured first-round byes.

Against Burnaby, the Saints bolted to a 7-2 first-period lead and sailed to the six-goal victory.

Richard Lachlan paced PoCo with three goals, followed by a pair apiece from Cory Cop, Nash Harrison and Tanner Fisher.

Cory Takahara and David McSkimming also tallied for the Saints, who got three assists from Matt Delmonico.

On Sunday, the Jr. A's jumped to a 7-1 first-period lead and hung on for a three-goal win.

Matthew Dinsdale and Ben McIntosh scored three goals each for the victors, with Reid Reinholdt dishing out five assists. Riley Camazzola stopped 36 shots in net.
