Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs saved their best for the second period Sunday, solidifying their first-place position in the B.C. Jr. 'A' lacrosse league standings.

The Jr. A's out-scored the host Burnaby Jr. Lakers 7-2 in the middle frame on way to a convincing 14-7 triumph at Bill Copeland Arena.

The victory boosted the defending Minto Cup-champion Jr. A's to 7-0 in the eight-team loop, while the once-mighty Jr. Lakers slid to 2-4.

Matthew Dinsdale and Travis Cornwall rallied the Jr. A's with eight-point outings apiece. Cornwall scored four goals and added four assists, while Dinsdale netted three markers and dished out five helpers.

Wesley Berg also scored three times for the winners, with Brandon Bertoia adding a pair. RyanJohnson and Vincent Ricci netted singles for Coquitlam.

Coquitlam outshot Burnaby by a staggering 51-32 margin, with Josh Phllips and Riley Camazzola sharing the win in net.

The Jr. A's have now out-scored their opponents 88-46 in their season wins to open the season.

Meanwhile, the PoCo Saints dropped a pair of tough one-goal overtime contests last week and slipped to a league-low 0-5 to start the campaign.

The Saints came off an 8-7 loss to the Thunder in Langley on Thursday and were tripped 9-8 by the Delta Islanders on Friday at PoCo Rec Centre.

Against Langley, Danton Nicholson netted two goals for the Saints, whose marksmen included Cody L'Arrivee, Andrew Bromley, Spencer Arnold, Mat Delmonico and Jordan Schulstad.

Versus Delta, Delmonico and Cody Craven whipped in three markers apiece for the Saints, who let a 5-0 first-period lead slip away and got out-scored 4-1 in the third to force extra time.

Carson Michaud was oustanding in the Saints' cage, blocking 50 shots.

The Saints and Jr. A's meet tonight (Wednesday) at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex before the Tri-City rivals meet again Friday at PoCo Rec Centre. Both games start at 8 p.m.
