The BCHL club has been tumbling down the Mainland Division standings since the beginning of the month, posting seven losses in a row.

Last weekend was no different, when the Chilliwack Chiefs defeated Coquitlam in back-to-back matches last weekend.

On Friday, the Express hosted the Fraser Vally squad, and managed to keep the game fairly close in the first two periods at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.

A power play marker by Coquitlam's Jackson Cressey late in the first period kept the game tied heading into the middle frame, after Chilliwack forward Jordan Kawaguchi opened the scoring earlier nine minutes into the game.

Coquitlam's Colton Kerfoot put his team up by one goal 59 seconds into the first period, but the lead quickly evaporated when Chilliwack scored two goals eight seconds apart one minute later.

A power play goal from Brett Supinski kept the game tied going into the final period, where Chilliwack scored two unanswered goals to win the game 5-3.

Coquitlam's struggles continued on Saturday at Prospera Centre.

The Chiefs jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first 16 minutes of the opening period.

A power play goal by Corey Mackin and singles from Joey Santucci and Jackson Cressey was not enough, as the Express fell 6-3.

Coquitlam's best chance at ending its losing streak came on Sunday night, when the club visited the Surrey Eagles at the South Surrey Arena.

Both teams scored in the first period, with Coquitlam's goal coming from Daniel Fritz. Express forward Daniell Lange potted hist first of the season in the second period to keep things tied up 2-2, while Brett Supinski also scored in the third period, burying a feed from Corey Mackin to keep the game tied at 3-3 after regulation time.

But in the overtime period, it was Surrey that managed to score first when Chase McMurphy put the puck past Express goalie Pierce Dushenko to win the game 4-3.

Coquitlam will take on Surrey again this Friday at the South Surrey Arena before taking on Langley on the road on Saturday. The club's next home game is October 29, when the Prince George Spruce Kings come to town.
