Two Coquitlam Express forwards have been named 1st team all stars by the B.C. Hockey League.

Forwards Corey Mackin and Brett Supinski were selected after league officials cast their ballots before the Fred Page Cup began last week.

Mackin led the BCHL in regular season scoring, racking up 50 goals and 54 assists in 58 games this year. Meanwhile, rookie Supinski was second in overall scoring with 48 goals and 50 assists.

Supinski was also selected for the BCHL all-rookie team.

The pair had a strong season this year but could not knock off the Chilliwack Chiefs in the first-round of the playoffs last month. Coquitlam fell to the Fraser Valley squad in five games.

Last month, both Supinski and Mackin received league honours.

Mackin was given the Verne Dye Memorial trophy for most valuable player, while Supinski snared the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as the rookie of the year. Teammate Daniel Fritz was a finalist for the defenceman of the year honours.

In non-voting awards, Mackin won the Brett Hull trophy for being the top scorer.

The BCHL is currently holding its annual Fred Page Cup to determine the best team in the junior 'A' hockey league.

The best-of-seven series is currently locked in a 2-2 tie between the Nanaimo Clippers and the Penticton Vees, however Game 5 was scheduled for Thursday evening at the South Okanagan Events Centre after The Tri-City News' deadline.

Coquitlam hockey fans will have to wait until the fall before they see their Express take the ice at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
