Navid Mashinchi wasn't satisfied with being named Canada West Soccer's third star last week.
The fifth-year midfielder for the UBC Thunderbirds kept up his strong play, being named CIS player of the week and first star in the division for his play against the University of Northern B.C. Timberwolves.
On Saturday, the Port Moody native recorded three assists for his number-one ranked T-birds in a 5-1 win over the visiting Timberwolves, before factoring into all three goals in a 3-0 win on Sunday.
In the second match, he scored on a free kick from 20 yards out at the 36th minute and assisted on the second goal of the game when he passed to Paul Clerc who headed in the ball. Mashinchi rounded out the day with a second goal in the 54th minute on a penalty kick.
Last week, the UBC athlete kicked off the season with two game-winning goals, earning him third star of the week honours in the Canada West division.
He got a game winner last Friday against the Victoria Vikes in the 58th minute when he knocked in a cross from teammate Milad Mehrabi. He also assisted on the Thunderbirds' first goal by Nial Cousens in front 1,900 Victoria fans.
After four games this season, Mashinchi leads the Canada West division in assists with five and is tied for second in scoring with four goals.
The Thunderbirds will travel to the B.C. Interior this weekend for games against Thompson Rivers University and UBC Okanagan.
