Coquitlam Little League has announced that it will host the Senior Little League Canadian Championships next summer as part of the organization's 60th anniversary.
The tournament, which will feature the provincial champions across the country, will be played at Blue Mountain Park between July 29 and August 5. The top team at the national event will move on to compete at the Senior League World Series in Bangor, Maine.
"Our club is proud to be hosting Canadians for the fifth time in our 60 year history," said Dan Malicki, the tournament director. "We've already started preparing to give all the players and their families a week of baseball they'll remember for a lifetime."
The last time Coquitlam Little League hosted the tournament was in 2008. The organization is celebrating its 60th anniversary with several events that will take place throughout the year. On Oct. 18, the group will hold its Ace of Diamonds Fundraising Gala at the Executive Inn, which will feature guest speaker Erniee Whitt, formerly of the Toronto Blue Jays. There will also be a casino night and a silent auction.
"Coquitlam Little League has a reputation for hosting stellar tournaments and our junior team won the Canadian vhampionship the last time we hosted the Canadians in Coquitlam," said Coquitlam Little League's Bruce Michael.
Tickets for the gala are available at eventbrite.com or by email [email protected].
