The Port Moody Storm are Coastal Cup champions.
The under-14 girls' soccer club defeated the North Shore Renegades on Saturday, finishing the season with a 2-1 win at the Richmond tournament.
Taylor Cherry opened the scoring for Port Moody 25 minutes into the game, allowing her team to take a 1-0 lead into the half-time break.
But the Renegades were able to tie things up at the fiftieth minute, when the refs called for a hand ball against a Storm player.
North Shore made it 1-1 with the penalty kick, a score that held until the end of the second half.
In the second overtime session, Julie Gair was sent in on a breakaway after taking a pass from teammate Abigail Schwartz. Despite the fact that Renegades net minder jumped on the ball, Gair was still able to shoot on an open net.
However, a North Shore defender stopped the goal by touching the ball with her hand, forcing another penalty.
Maddie Low got the call for Port Moody for the free kick, putting the ball passed the North Shore goalie to give her team a 2-1 lead.
Solid defensive play in the final minutes allowed the Storm to hang on to the lead and win the Coastal Cup.
The team will now prepare for the provincial championship, which is expected to take place in July.
