Coquitlam's Tory Nyhaug rode to a fifth-place showing at the 2013 International Cycling Union BMX World Championships Sunday in Auckland, New Zealand.
Nyhaug breezed through the first two rounds of the Supercross World Championships by placing third and second respectively.

Striking silver
Port Coquitlam's Paige Taylor helped the Fraser Valley Fusion Rep-A Girls 16U Fastball team to a silver medal at the B.C. Softball Provincials in Victoria last weekend.
Taylor pitched a five-hit shutout to help the Fusion past the White Rock Renegades 2-0 in the semifinals, striking out four in seven innings. A finger injury forced Taylor to leave the gold-medal game in which Fraser Valley fell to the Delta Heat 6-0.
