Nyhaug & Kudaba off to Toronto

Coquitlam’s Tory Nyhaug will compete in the Pan American Games in Toronto this month.

A handful of Tri-City athletes are packing their bags for Toronto where they are expected to take part in the Pan American Games this month.

Coquitlam cyclist Tory Nyhaug, who is coming off an injury, is expected compete with Team Canada in the BMX event.

He recently competed in the 2015 Canadian BMX Championships in Drummondville, Que., and told Toronto media that he is healthy and ready for the Games.

Nyhaug has a long history of competition and missed the semifinals at the London Olympics by one point in 2012.

He will be joined by another Tri-City athlete, Con Kudaba, who has qualified for the water polo event.

Kudaba, who usually competes in France, is originally from Port Coquitlam.

Rene Tosoni, another Port Coquitlam athlete, will play outfield for Team Canada’s baseball team, an event that is scheduled to get underway on Saturday.
