The Port Moody Panthers will look to notch their seventh win of the season when the team hosts the Grandview Steers Saturday night.

November has not been kind to the Cats.

The Pacific Junior Hockey League club managed just two victories in nine games and currently sits at the bottom of the Tom Shaw Conference standings.

Wednesday was no different for the club, which failed to pull out a victory during a road game against the Aldergrove Kodiaks.

Port Moody fell behind early, surrendering two goals in the first 10 minutes. In the middle frame the Kodiaks scored two more before Port Moody's Eric Malli got his team on the board with an unassisted marker.

Malli's goal appeared to spark the Panthers offence.

Evan Gain, who was named third star of the game, sank his eighth of the season to make it 4-2, while Mark Fletcher buried a pass from Adam Rota to bring the game to within one. Gain scored his second of the night on the power play a few minutes later.

However, Port Moody could not find the equalizer and two more goals from the Steelers was enough to seal the game.

The Grandview Steelers will be in Port Moody on Saturday for a 7:45 p.m. puck drop.

The Vancouver team is also struggling so far this year, currently one ahead of the Panthers in the standings with a 10-12 record and 21 points.

There are also several games next week against some bottom-tier opponents. Port Moody will take on Delta at the Ladner Leisure Centre before returning home on Dec. 13 for a rematch against the Kodiaks.
