The Pinetree secondary school Grade 9 girls volleyball team closed out the season as district champions, defeating Riverside secondary and Archbishop Carney in the finals.
Two top hitters, Nicole Ramsden and Alyssa Lee, and exceptional setting from Chantal Wong, led the team to victory in defeating Riverside three games to two last week.
In the semi-finals against Archbishop Carney, Pinetree had a couple of close games, but ended up with three wins with scores of 25-15, 27-25 and 26-24.
For the gold medal match, Pinetree won three of five games against Riverside, with scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-20, 20-25 and 15-5, leaving Riverside with silver and Archbishop Carney collecting the bronze in a series of matches against Terry Fox.
