SFU Clan’s women’s softball team recorded its first Great Northwest Athletic Conference win of the year Sunday behind the pitching of Port Coquitlam’s Alia Stachoski.
The 7-1 victory over Western Washington University atop Burnaby Mountain snapped a 12-game losing streak to the rival Vikings, including a 7-3 loss in the opener.
Stachoski pitched a complete game in the win, allowing just one earned run and six hits while striking out seven batters. She improved her record to 5-3 on the season.
With the split, the Clan moved to 1-3 in conference play and 10-10 on the season.
