These days, Bret Anderson spends much of his time as a firefighter with Port Coquitlam's Fire and Emergency Services.
But a few years ago the Simon Fraser University alum was known as a placekicker and slotback with the B.C. Lions, hauling in 66 catches and four touchdowns between 2001 and 2003.
Anderson was also an integral part of the team's 2000 Grey Cup win and in 1993 the Terry Fox secondary student was nominated by Sport BC as the High School Athlete of the Year.
His accomplishments are being recognized this year by the B.C. Football Hall of Fame, who inducted the 39-year-old into the class of 2014.
Anderson was drafted in the fourth round (25th overall) by the Leos in 1997. He was seen as a versatile backup receiver, but spent most of his career as a kicker.
He played in only five games in 2004 before leaving football to join Port Coquitlam Fire and Emergency Services.
However, he was called back to the team in 2005 and remained on the roster sharing kickoff duties with Paul McCallum until 2009. He finished his career having played in 176 games for B.C., totalling 93 receptions for 1,137 yards and five touchdowns.
