Port Coquitlam gymnasts Jordan and Haley de Jong made their hometown proud, after earning respectable finishes at the national gymnastics championships held in Ottawa from May 24 to June 1.
Jordan, 15, won fifth place in vault and sixth place in floor, in the national open (13-15 yrs) category. Meanwhile, her sister Haley, 13, a national youth team member, took sixth all around, ninth on bars, sixth on floor and a silver medal on the beam.
Both girls train with the Flicka Gymnastics club out of North Vancouver.
Jordan's goals are to represent Team BC at the Westerns/Nationals gymnastics events in 2015, and obtain an NCAA gymnastics scholarship.
And Haley, who is coming off a successful season that included two championship gymnastics titles, has her sights set on joining Team Canada, attending the Olympics and also obtaining an NCAA scholarship.
