The Port Moody Panthers managed to notch its first win of the season last week - and then the they won two more.

After taking down Abbotsford 7-1 last week, the Cats kept the streak alive taking down the Delta Ice Hawks 4-2 before defeating the Aldergrove Kodiaks 8-5 at home on Saturday.

The latest victory saw the Panthers jump out to a quick 2-0 lead with a power play goal from Reece Bartel and a single from Eric Malli in the first period.

Port Moody's Sammy Zeinab added an unassisted goal, before Keito Lee made it 4-2 and Adam Rota scored the team's fifth goal shorthanded.

Aldergrove started to wake up in the third period, scoring a couple of power play goals.

But it was not enough to slow down Port Moody's offence, which piled on points with goals from Rota, Derian White and Daniel Szpakowski.

When the dust finally settled, the Cats won 8-5.

Rota was named first star of the game while Zeinab was named third star of the game.

Despite the wins, Port Moody still has a big hole to climb out of the Pacfic Junior Hockey League standings. The squad is still in last place in the Tom Shaw Conference, two wins behind the Grandview Steelers, who are in fourth place.

The Cats will take on the Ridge Meadows Flames at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge on Friday before returning home on Saturday, Oct. 25 to play the Richmond Sockeyes at 7:30 p.m.
