Port Moody's Alanna Chan was a standout on defense when the SFU Clan took on the Western Washington University Vikings in women's volleyball on Saturday night.

The former Heritage Woods Kodiak, who is a sophomore at the university, led the team on defence, finishing the game with 16 digs.

However, the effort was not enough for the squad to shut down the first place team, which won in straight sets of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-13.

"WWU is a very disciplined team and they don't make a lot of errors," said head coach Lisa Sulatycki. "But I was very pleased with the first two sets. We flipped our line up a little bit tonight and I thought we handled that well and competed well."

With the loss, the squad is now 3-13 on the season and 0-9 in conference play.
