The Port Moody Panthers notched their fourth win of the season Saturday night when the Mission City Outlaws came to town.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with neither side dominating in the first two periods of play.
Port Moody's Daniel Szpakowski opened the scoring when he buried a pass from line mate Adam Rota, before Mission's Bryce Pisiak got his team on the board with a power play marker.
Port Moody took a two-goal lead in the second with tallies from Eric Malli and Derian White, but the Outlaws fought back with two goals of their own, including a power play marker with one second left in the frame.
However, Port Moody found an edge in the third period, holding the Outlaws to just three shots in the final 20 minutes.
Penalty trouble cost Mission, with Rota and Szpakowski each finding the back of the net to help their team to a 5-3 victory when the final buzzer sounded.
The two players, along with forward Derian White, were stars of the game and net minder Spencer Kozlowski stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced.
But the week was not all rosy for the struggling Cats, who currently sit in last place in the Pacific Junior Hockey League with 4-13-0-1.
The club dropped a 7-5 decision at home to the North Vancouver Wolfpack Monday night and on Friday lost 4-1 to the Abbotsford Pilots.
LOSSES CONTINUE TO PILE UP FOR CATS
Abbotsford jumped out to an early lead, going up 1-0 off a goal from Philip Gauthier. The team added to its total with markers from Devan Vander Wyk and Ashdeep Shergill in the second, with only Rota managing a tally for the visiting Port Moody squad.
The Pilots shutdown the Cats in the third period, with only Abby forward Colton Cowden managing a goal to round out the 4-1 loss for Port Moody.
Kozlowski was 30 for 34 in the outing and the club was zero for four on the power play.
This weekend, the team will host the Harold Brittain Conference leading Langley Knights at the Port Moody Arena. Langley is 9-6-1-0 this season and currently sit in third place in the league. Puck drop is 7:45 p.m.
