The Terry Fox Senior Ravens came close to upsetting the No. 1 ranked Mt. Douglas Rams on the weekend but in the end the Port Coquitlam football club could not hang on to the lead.

Ravens co-coach Jorge Knizek said despite the disappointing loss, he felt good about how his team played, noting the Victoria squad was one of the best teams in the league.

"It was an extremely encouraging result as our boys showed tenacity, perseverance and the ability to not give up when facing adversity," he said in an email. "There will certainly be an enormous amount of positives to pull out the contest."

The Ravens managed to take an early lead, outscoring the the Rams 27-20 at the first half.

But in the second half, the visitors' offence kicked into high gear, scoring twice in the third and advancing to a 27-34 lead going into the final quarter.

The Ravens' offence, however, was not finished yet.

The home team managed to re-gain the lead with a 10-yard scoring run from Trevor Casey, followed by a 24-yard rushing touchdown from Mate McLeod-Genest.

But Terry Fox's defence was unable to keep the visitors from reclaiming the lead, allowing one more touchdown to give the Rams a 44-40 win.
