Their season may be over but the accolades continue to sound for members of the Terry Fox Ravens varsity football squad.
The Ravens and Mt. Douglas Rams finished atop B.C. high school football this year, with the Rams winning the title game 32-27, and the two teams dominated the 2013 provincial all-star team as well with six selections each.
Quarterback Conner McKee was named an offensive all-star and Ravens' co-coach Tomas Kudaba said he had an excellent year demonstrating his natural talent.
"We assume he will grow and mature and become the type of QB that can lead the 2014 Ravens to the provincial championships," said Kudaba.
At 6'2", 275-lb., Mike Beck was an anchor on the Ravens' offensive line.
"He's a steady offensive lineman who will be a strong component of a post-secondary team after he gains strength in order to play against the large college lineman that programs have," said Kudaba.
He said receiver Jason Shamatutu is potentially a great athlete at the next level.
"He contributed in many ways on both sides of the ball and will be certainly playing post secondary football somewhere next year."
Kyle Sagmoen got the nod as an all-star on the defensive line.
"What Kyle lacks in height he can make up with technique and strength at the next level," said Kudaba. He has the ability and drive to do it."
He said Isaiah Stevens could be the best linebacker in the province next year as a Grade 12. "He's very competitive and works hard at all facets of his game."
Kudaba said defensive back Kyle Miller might be considered a sleeper by some but those who know him recognize he's a great football player.
"He has the mind and ability to play DB in college. He's tough and easy to coach."
Mike West, who played running back and defensive end for the Ravens, was named Grade 11 player of the year.
"Like Isaiah [Stevens], he's a player that will only get better," said Kudaba, calling West a big, tough and fast multi-sport athlete. "He can play many positions and will be vital to our success next year."
