The Coquitlam Redlegs improved notched their first two wins of the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League season on Saturday, defeating the Victoria Eagles in a doubleheader.
In the first game of the afternoon, the club fell behind early, surrendering two runs in the second inning.
However, the team responded with a run of their own before exploding for five runs in the the fifth inning to eventually win the game 10-2.
Cole Nightingale, Cole Walter, Allen Velten and Trevor McKee each scored two runs in the game, while Ryley Leoppky and Jacob Doyle each scored singles.
Coquitlam's offence did not slow down in the second game of the day.
The Redlegs jumped out to an early 3-1 lead by the fourth inning before putting up five runs in the sixth to defeat Victoria 7-2.
Nightingale and McKee again scored runs while, while Cole Walter found home plate twice in the game.
With the wins, the Redlegs now sit fifth in the league, behind the Abbotsford Jr. Cardinals and ahead of the North Shore Jr. Twins.
The Redlegs will take on the North Delta Blue Jays Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Mundy Park. On Sunday, they will travel to Vancouver Island where they will take on the Nanaimo Jr. Pirates.
