Renegades off to perfect start

The CMFSC Renegades continue their hot streak to open the U12 girls soccer season. The Renegades downed the West Coast Selects 5-1 Sunday in Pitt Meadows for their third straight win.

The CMFSC Renegades continue their hot streak to open the U12 girls soccer season. The Renegades downed the West Coast Selects 5-1 Sunday in Pitt Meadows for their third straight win.

Olivia Gallina opened the scoring in the first half, with Christa Tascona following up with a pair, one of them coming off an impressive free kick after a hand ball was called on the West Coast squad.

Alex Hinrichs scored in the second half and delivered a corner kick that Ava Mongrain converted into a goal. Diana Emelianova provided solid goaltending for the Renegades.

In U16 division one action, the Port Moody Redcaps battled to a scoreless draw with the CCB Daredevils Saturday night in Newton.

Lukas Nuessler earned the shutout for the Redcaps, providing a number of routine stops as well as a sparkling save in the final minutes to pick up Man of the Match honours. Redcaps' captain Nick On, along with Arash Borairi, Scott Gaudette and Rory McKay, also turned in solid efforts.
