Quarterback Max Kennedy ran in for the winning touchdown in the final minutes to help the Roughriders to a 25-22 win over the North Surrey Eagles Monday.

Mitch Bye scored a pair of touchdowns (the first in his six-year career) with Edvin Colakovic also notching his first major in six years playing.

Fullback Adam Tennent powered the Roughriders' ground attack while Layth Begg, Tre Johnson, Mitch Bye, Jaden Sevrey and Jarrod Hills were standouts on defence.

In other opening day action, the Vancouver Trojans edged the Coquitlam Chargers 22-19 in bantam division play.
