Riverside's Rasche takes gold in javelin

Teagan Rasche brought home the Tri-Cities' only gold medal in the senior B.C. High School Track and Field Meet on Saturday. The Riverside secondary athlete spiked first place in the senior girls javelin event, throwing the stick 43.

The Riverside secondary athlete spiked first place in the senior girls javelin event, throwing the stick 43.51 m, well ahead of second-place finisher Brittni Wolczyk of Archibishop Carney, who threw 41.28.

Channell Botsis of Dr. Charles Best secondary missed the podium with a fourth-place showing, throwing 39.44 m in the finals.

But Botsis did not go home without a medal.

The Blue Devil athlete finished in second place in the senior girls hammer throw, after posting a 46.99 m toss.

Botsis was behind gold medal winner Asianna Covington of Abbotsford, who posted a 53.83 m throw in the event.
