Coquitlam's Jessie Sanderson is on top of the B.C. curling world. Sanderson was second for Kesa Van Osch's Victoria rink that won the 2014 Scotties B.C. Women's Curling Championship.
Van Osch stole one in the final end to outlast reigning B.C. champion Kelly Scott 5-4 in Sunday's final at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club.
Van Osch set up a perfect final end for her team,protecting her stone in the four-foot, preventing Scott fromgetting aneasy single for the win.
Scott was faced with the impossible task of trying to draw in behind the Van Osch stone, which was sitting just above the button. Scott's shot was short and the young Van Osch team got the steal to take the game 5-4.
The Van Osch rink, which also includes third Stephanie Baier and lead Carley Sandwith, now moves on to vie for a national title at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts Feb. 1-9 in Montreal.
Team Van Osch, in their first trip to the women's provincials, knocked off the rink of Abbotsford's Allison MacInnes 10-2 Saturday to earn the spot in the finals.
Van Osch earlier fell to the Scott rink 8-6 in the quarterfinals to set up the semifinal matchup with MacInnes.
Van Osch finished first in the round robin portion with an 8-1 record, with the only loss coming in an 11-6 defeat to Sarah Wark of Victoria.
Along the way, Van Osch shaded Amy Gibson of Vancouver 6-5, doubled Shawna Jensen of Victoria 14-7, outlasted MacInnes 7-6, got past Marla Mallett of Cloverdale 8-4, defeated Prince George's Tracey Jones 9-4, held off Patti Knezevic of Prince George 9-6, stopped Kamloops' Karla Thompson 4-3 and wrapped up the round robin with a 6-3 win over Scott.
