The Senior Adanacs just couldn't keep pace with the Western Lacrosse Association regular season champion Langley Thunder. The Thunder knocked off Coquitlam 11-9 Saturday to sweep the best-of-seven series in four games.

"They're a tough team and we battled them. We just couldn't get over that little, well big hump," said Coquitlam head coach Bob Salt. "I thought they ran more Saturday. They gave us a bad time with their transition game."

Daryl Veltman scored twice and added two assists for the Adanacs, who also got a pair of goals from Jesse Guerin and singles from Travis Cornwall, Brandon Goodwin, Matthew Dinsdale, Matthew MacGrotty and Brad Richardson.

Adam Shute made 39 saves for Coquitlam while Brodie MacDonald turned aside 38 shots in the Thunder net.

"Brodie in goal was the big story. We had lots of chances but he made some big saves, like he's done every game," said Salt. "We're young, but you've still got to bury those chances if you want to go on. We had our opportunities to beat this team but we just didn't take them."

Brett Hickey scored four times in Thursday's 9-7 loss in Game 3. Veltman, Guerin and Dinsdale had the other Coquitlam markers.

Salt was full of praise for the way his young team battled against the high-powered Langley squad.

"They've got guys coming out their ears that can score goals. That's pretty hard (to beat). You've got to be flawless in the D end and Shute's got to save everything," said Salt, who expects the Adanacs to be improved next season.

"One thing that's come out of this is we've got a No. 1 goalie here which I didn't think I had going in."

The Thunder now face the Victoria Shamrocks, who swept the Burnaby Lakers in four games.
