Coquitlam's Ally Shin stormed to a seven-stroke victory at the second Canadian junior world golf championship qualifier last weekend at Swan-e-set Bay Resort in Pitt Meadows.
Shin, 15, opened with a 76 then shot a sizzling final round one-under 71 to capture her first CJGA division title of the season in the Open Girls division.
Playing on her home course, the Gleneagle secondary school student finished birdie, birdie, par to win over a strong field of the top junior girl golfers in B.C.
"I had to stay calm and not think about my score out there" said Shin following her best tournament round of the year."I had some shots that went here and there but I was able to scramble well and get up-and-down to save par when I needed to."
Shin finished second last month in the first world championship qualifier, setting her in good position for a trip to San Diego in July.
In the boys 15-19 division, Coquitlam's Jun Kang fired 72-71-143 to finish second to Calgary's Matt Williams, who shot 68-72-140.
In the boys 14 and under group, Henry Lee of Coquitlam placed third with 76-69-145. For more, visit www.cjga.com.
